Our Services

At Pettigrew Regional Libraries, we do more than just lend out books, DVDs, CDs, and other items to the public. At the circulation desk you can ask our library staff to help you with copying, faxing, printing, and scanning. You can also sign up for a library card, schedule a meeting room, and laminate important documents. We also have specialized services such as interlibrary loans, notary services, and miscellaneous items for purchase! At the library circulation desk we can help you with almost anything!

Copying:

Copying is open to public use and only requires payment with change and small bills. Available at all four locations, you can produce copies in a number of ways, this includes enlarging or shrinking a document, turning two separate pages into one with a back and front (or even the reverse), specifying the numbers of copies you need, and much, much more. Don't hesitate to speak with one of our staff members to assist you with your copy job!

Pricing:

  • Black and White: $0.25 per page
  • Color: $0.50 per page

Printing

Also available at all four libraries, printing is open to patrons using the library computers and, similar to copying, requires change and small bills to release a print job. Print jobs at the print release station are available in the queue for up to 2 hours. Please do not hesitate to ask the library staff to assist you when releasing a print job!

Pricing:

  • Black and White: $0.25 per page
  • Color: $0.50 per page

Faxing:

At all four of our locations, patrons are able to place and receive fax jobs at the library. Cover pages for faxes that are being sent are free, UNLESS that is the only document being sent. The job itself is $2.50 and each additional page after the first page is $0.50. If you have a fax sent to the library, it will be $1.00 for the first five pages and $0.25 for each page after the first five.

Scanning:

Scanning is .25 per page. You only need to talk to the library staff to request the scanning of a document. Completed scans can either be delivered to you via email, or we can download the document to a flashdrive provided by the patron. This is only available at our Washington, Perquimans, and Tyrrell locations.

Laminating:

Laminating services are available at each of our four locations! Whether you are laminating important personal documents or something large for a school project, our laminating services have you covered! Inquire at your local library for pricing and laminating sizes.

Notary:

Notary services are available at the Washington and Tyrrell locations. Our notary services can cover titling, bills of sale, insurance, and most other official documents. Please call ahead to see when our notary service is available.

Library Cards

Why Should I Get a Card?

A library card is a key to knowledge and many resources! As a patron of Pettigrew Regional Libraries, not only can you check out books and movies, but you also have access to e-books, audiobooks, databases, technology, periodicals, and much, much more! With your library card, you have access to a FREE education and endless hours of entertainment!

Who Can Get One?

If you work in, or are a resident of, Chowan, Perquimans, Tyrrell, or Washington counties you can get a library card for FREE! If you are a non-resident you may purchase a library card for $15.00.

How Do I Get a Library Card?

Visit your local library with a current and valid photo ID. If the address on your ID is not current, a proof of residence (such as a piece of mail, check book, or bill with the current address) must also be present. If you are 17 years of age or younger, you must be accompanied by a legal guardian who has a library card in our system (see our policy for more details). If you are a non-resident then you must have a valid photo ID and $15.00 to get a library card.

I Lost My Library Card, What Do I Do?

Worry not, you can replace your library card! You only need to have a photo ID and $3.00 to get a replacement card.

It's My First Time Checking Something Out, What Should I Expect?

For your first time checking out material, you are limited to three items but, after this first time, you can check out an unlimited number of items for the rest of your visits. DVDs, however, remain the same at three DVDs checked out at a time. Non-Residents are limited to only one item the first time and only three items at a time thereafter.

Meeting Rooms

Pettigrew Regional Libraries also has meeting rooms that are available for public use. Each location has different rules and regulations for use the of the meeting room. Programs and events hosted by the library or local government take priority when scheduling meeting room use. Please contact your local library to see if their meeting room is available for use and see our Regional Meeting Room Policy below for further details.

Interlibrary Loans Service

If you can't find a book in our system, don't worry, we have you covered! With our interlibrary loan service we can request for you ANY book that was published over a year ago. Our interlibrary loaning service extends across the country and over seas, literally, any book in the world is at your fingertips.

This service is not free as the cost of the request is the cost of postage to ship the item to our location.

If you cannot find the book you want in our catalog, speak with one of our librarians to see if it is available from a library outside the Pettigrew Regional Library system. If you want to begin this process beforehand, fill out and sign the top half of the form linked below and submit the form to the front desk at your local library.
